I treated myself over the weekend

Postby meriad » 29 Sep 2014, 10:25

I really shouldn't have but for quite some time I've been hankering after a smaller dining table (preferable an oak one so it matches my sideboard). The table I have now is rectangular and just that bit too big for my dining room and I definitely don't have the space to fully extend it either (normal it's 136cm long and each side extends by another 50cm so it goes quite long really)

I got a message from Nadine last week saying she'd found the perfect table for me so she and I went and had a look on Saturday and totally agreed with her and splurged there and then. So the one that's now coming is 90cm square which is perfect. It also extends so still plenty space if needed but at least it'll now "fit" the space and match the side board.

I'm happy

I have put the old one on gumtree to see if I can sell it - I'm probably asking too much for it but who knows, at least it give me space to drop the price and maybe still make a bit of money ;)

I like square tables. I am not a Knight so feel uncomfortable sitting at a round one. :o

Gumtree is pretty good as it has loads of local pages. I have used it a few times - both ways, but be careful of time wasters, there are a few about. Don't get tied down waiting in for someone to view. Give them a slot to suit you both, but don't get stuck in extending it if they do not arrive on time.

Hope you manage to sell the old one Ria. We got rid of a rectangular one for a square one that extended when we moved here. I love the table but hate the chairs - it was all from Ikea and you basically picked any chairs to go with the table and while they look okay, they don't fit neatly underneath. Problem is, they don't have any chairs in that type of wood any more so it's hard to find something different.

The right table makes such a big difference to a room doesn't it, so it's definitely worth grabbing one that's just right :)
