Contracts have been signed and exchanged :D :D :D :D :D

The last two days have been terrible, each day I have been so stressed out that I didn't even turn on the laptop till evening time, or come in here except to look or did I post something? I can't remember. When Miss Osc got their contract yesterday, there was a condition in it that was basically a Get out of Jail Free card, giving them the right to withdraw without loss of their deposit on any tenuous ground that the bank might come up with. She says she never puts that in contracts herself. So yesterday she emailed the other solicitor a letter saying that she would not allow us to sign while that condition was in place. She called him later and he was out of the office for the rest of the day, having left for some emergency and not taken his mobile phone with him (he works from home so far as she can figure out, and doesn't have an assistant so it must have been his wife who answered). We signed our contract last night in the hope that it would be sorted out.

She speaks to him this morning and he tells her he has emailed his clients recommending that the condition remain in the contract and asking them to get back to him by lunchtime. I really thought that was it, I was so upset that I just couldn't bear to even talk about it and thankfully Michael was here all day, so provided a bit of distraction. I felt as if I was weighed down, my head was heavy, brain full of fog and I felt as if I was moving through treacle all the time. Then, during the afternoon, a text from Miss Osc - "Purchaser has agreed to remove the condition about the loan. Hallelujah!".......well, you can imagine how we felt!! So she has posted off our contract today, and they have recommended 9th September as the closing date. Of course, we still have nowhere to live, but we have almost three weeks and hopefully that situation will improve. Both of us feel as if a huge weight has been lifted as you can imagine.

Being us, we celebrated with a big.....................icecream each    Mr. Osc wanted to go out to eat, but I just couldn't, maybe we will tomorrow. In the meantime, we will be organising to finally sign the contract with our builder and let him put in his two week notice of commencement to the council, so the build will be starting around the same time we move and finally it is all beginning to fall into place :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
