Hands free kit for car

the charger bit on my hands free kit is broken. I need to find the receipt to see if it's still under warranty but suspect not which means I'll need to get another one.

The one I had was a Supertooth and I was quite happy with it but before I replace like for like I was just wondering what hands free kit you have for your car and if you'd recommend it. Needs to be added that my car does not have an aux in plug so whatever system I use, it needs to be one that works on it's own without having to be connected to the sound system.

Just a thought, but if your kit is [fit name here]Tooth, then it's likely Bluetooth connected. if that's the case, is there any reason why you can't use any ordinary charger and still connect the handsfree via Bluetooth?

I have multiple devices connected to my cigarette lighter in my car, I have a 3 way switch to 3 additional sockets and then multi USB outlets from more than one socket.

My handsfree is Bluetooth which sits on my visor. It's not very good but better than nothing.

Sorry Suff, I wasn't clear - apologies. It's the actual bit where you plug in the small USB pip thing into the hands free that is broken. The little black square inside the plug thing has snapped off and when I unplugged it from the charger (as it wasn't charging) said plastic thingy from the actual hands free was stuck inside the USB cable. I did try and see if it would work without but it obviously was the main connector part.


I hope that sort of makes sense? I'm probably every mechanics worst nightmare when I take my car to the garage

Sort of makes sense.....

If it only connects USB, then it won't work. I was just wondering if the USB was just for the charger. In which case you could get a doubler, use a generic charger and charge the phone on that.

However if it actually connects by USB (I've never seen one but am willing to admit there might be some), then that's a different matter.

Just a thought.

Thanks everyone - I haven't had a chance to find the receipt yet but will do so tomorrow night when I'm home at a normal time (hopefully) and then I'll take things from there; hopefully it still is under warranty which will save me having to buy a new one; fingers crossed
