Had a strange thing happen at work today. Lady walked in, asked if there was an optician present, we said yes but he was in clinic, she asked if when he was free she could have a word. We asked her to have a seat and in due course when M was free, she asked him (and at this point I'd advice anyone squeamish to stop reading right now)















Could he pop her false eye back in





M has been an optician for not far short of 20 years and he has never been asked this before - she explained that her husband usually does the honours but he was away and she was unable to do it herself, although she said it was just as easy as putting a contact lens in.....which he confirmed to us after the event!! He also had to put it in, take it out as he hadn't put it in the right way round the first time (the white was showing) and he described the 'sccchlllurrpp' sound as he took it out to re-do it

Just glad I didn't see any of it going on

I'm just glad it was all done behind a closed door!!!

Oh the other funny today was that we had a young kiddie in to have a lesson on how to insert and remove contacts, he's been back several times for the I and R lesson but hasn't 'got it' yet (he is rather too young for them in our opinion, but it's not our decision to make). Anyway his mum was in the room with him while he was doing the I and R and she is quite loud (lovely, but loud! LOL) He must have got the hang of one of them at least because she shrieked "Yes!!! Whhhooop!! You got it in!!"

The lady waiting her turn's face was a picture!!

What with Ally's pupils vomiting and the slurp of an eye being put back in, I'm sorry, but I'm laughing too

I used to have contact lenses, but the blasted things kept popping out - turns out I have a stimag thingy and so they'd just pop out when they felt like it.

Back to glasses for me

I remember talking to a lady, many many years ago who had lenses that virtually covered her whole eye

Wasn't it??? Especialy when Jan quickly said to the waiting lady "Contact lenses!"

Ton, years ago there was no facility for people with astigmatism to wear contacts, but there have been loads of advances in contact type and you may be eligible to wear them now, if you wanted to
