I've taken to sat sitting

Postby tonicha » 09 Aug 2014, 20:49

out on the front steps in the evenings - it's so lovely and warm and the light there is good, so I can read, whilst Grumpy is watching some rubbish on the box.

I was engrossed in my book and half heard a thump and then a few sort of cries, like ow, ow, ow.

Being a good samaritan, I leapt up, looked up and down the road, couldn't see anything, but the noise carried on. Got my keys out of the door to unlock the front gate and then saw a hump on the pavement - shouted for Grumpy, who came running out in his boxer shorts    and nowt else

By the time I'd got to the lady who had fallen over, a camper van had stopped, a guy on a motorbike and a couple of cars stopped up the road.

Fortunately, Graça hadn't hurt herself too badly - just the shock (she is a large ish lady) and hurt her ankle. The guy in the camper offered to take her home, the guy on the bike checked her ankle over (turns out he's a nurse) and I offered our house, for her to sit in to get over the shock.

She refused, but I walked her home.

But isn't it lovely that so many people stopped?

agree with Ton-here everyone rushes to offer help

when our son was in town on his own shopping ,tripped over a high kerb, only grazed his knees, but he said he was amazed how many came to his aid -did he want Dr./ambulance etc

also if you ask for directions to somewhere its not unusual for someone to actually take you to your destination

I think it's because the Portuguese are such a caring type of person - also bluddy nosy  but caring comes first :D

Di, it's quite busy during the day now, as we're literally flooded with tourists
