Finally it's gone!!!

It'll be two years at the end of this month since we moved here. A few days after we'd moved in I walked past a house around the corner, a lovely big detached house, and there was a 2ft tall decoration clad gold tinsel Christmas tree on the windowsill. The living room curtains were drawn everytime I walked past so I assumed they were lucky people who'd gone on a long holiday. I was wrong. The curtains have been closed ever since and the Christmas tree stayed there. Sometimes cards would appear on the windowsill and then they'd disappear but that damn tree never moved. By the July of that year it was really getting on my nerves. I walk past the house everyday, sometimes two, three or four times and seeing a shiny gold Christmas tree in the middle of Summer really starts to wind you up  I thought maybe they'd take it down after last Christmas but no, it sparkled and shone all through last Summer too. The family who live there are Indian and I did wonder if maybe they didn't realise that you take your Christmas tree done after the event but then looking around surely they'd see that no one else had trees up all year round.

I walked past today and the curtains are pulled open and the tree has gone. IT'S GONE!!!
I need those dancing girl smilies again...

Saundra, it was on a bay windowsill which was about 3ft away from the footpath so you couldn't help but see it everytime you walked past
I could've rung the doorbell and hugged whoever answered this morning

Jo almost all of the houses on our little Estate are beautifully kept, the windows bright and airy, the sills clutter free. The only one that isn't is on the corner of the footpath that cuts through onto the main road, a route I take on foot often. The curtains are shut, the window sills cluttered with all sorts of tatt and the front garden full of straggly plants! All the others are either neat lawn or shingle/gravel...........

They are an Indian family too - quite a young couple who look like professionals, with several well dressed children and a lovely shiny car........... :? Perhaps they don't feel the same about their house :?

Isn't that a coincidence. I think here the woman is at home with the young children, I've seen the man a few times and he's always well dressed and on the parcel shelf of his car I've spied pharmacy books (I'm not that nosey - honest! He sometimes parks half on half off the footpath rather than on the drive).
There's only really the 18" plastic Eiffel Tower on the windowsill now that looks out of the ordinary  I thought I was going to end up with one of those when Joe went to France for the day last Summer!

Maybe the last two years they didn't pull the tree down in time, then rather than risk bad luck, they left it up all year, but kept the curtains drawn so they didn't have to look at it.

I'm sad to report that even over here, Indian family's don't keep their houses in the best of conditions either. There are some exceptions of course, but on a whole it seems to be that way unfortunately.

We have four Indian families around us and they keep their houses immaculate, so we must be lucky. Mrs Steptoe over the road is another matter. Bliddy great Christian fish symbol laid into the brick work, blue lights that stay up all year. Front garden filled with rubbish and at night when I draw my bedroom curtains if her lounge lights are on, honestly it just looks like one of those houses where people just collect junk. Her brother lives with them now and he is big fat blob, that goes out and sits on the garden wall to smoke. Bleurgh
