And so another year of the same starts....

The alarm went of at 6am this morning, the usual morning routine commenced, on the usual train at 7.46, the usual faces, the usual grey glum London morning..... sigh

For me January is just the dullest month and I'm always glad to see the end of it; February it starts getting lighter again and you know you're heading into spring but for now :( :( :(

I know there is a lot to be grateful for but still.... just want to vent that I don't want to be back at work; I'd much rather be at home snuggled up on the sofa :)

Winter months are so dank and gloomy here - especially when you have an early start and commute. Have a hug (((((((Meri))))))) xxx

I've noticed that too Saundra - the evenings are definitely staying lighter just that bit longer :D.....

I always hated January, because you got paid early in December which made it about a 6 week wait to be paid again  I eventually became very good at not touching the December salary until January! We've had a couple of days recently that were positively springlike and actually, we've not had our gas fire on in the evening for almost two weeks as it has been so mild, so hopefully a slightly lower bill next time around. Trying to be positive here!! I do hate the darkness though :(

I loved jan there. It getting dark unusually early, very exciting for a South Pacific lass, snow on the ground, or if I was lucky, it actually snowing while I was outside, the crispness of the air, the feeling of hunkering down with friends while downing a pint or two... Putting on fabulous winter coats and GLOVES!! Oh and scarves nd hats!! He could I ogre those! Burying your nose in a scarf so it didn't get too cold.
Sighseeing, where you spent half the day investigating collections of tatty shops, just because they were in the direction of where I was walking and they were warm inside....

Ah a proper winter, I have fond memories

Ah, but there is half the problem Weka, we aren't having a winter.... :( It's grey, damp with drizzle in the air (which does make a change from the rain admittedly :)) and just all in all not very nice out there. Temperatures are about 10 or so degrees so hats and scarfs and gloves are just not needed. Now if it was a nice cold crispy day out there with blue skies then that would be a different matter but in all honesty - I am sick and tired of the grey grey nothingness we've had for far too long now. Roll on spring where at least the blooms will add some colour :D

I agree completely meriad, I too love 'proper' winter days, cold and bright. We've barely had any decent daylight for weeks, it really is depressing. I do always try to see the positive, but there doesn't seem to be anything positive about this never-ending gloom and damp.

That's how I try to look at it too Saundra :)
I really don't like January, it always seems such a long month, February isn't much better (can you tell I'm definitely not a Winter person?) but at least we have Tom's birthday to look forward to in Feb. I am enjoying this Spring-like weather though.
