The Spider and the Washing Line ....

Do you have trouble with spiders and your washing line? We have a good old-fashioned rotary one, so it's easy-peasy for them to spin a web between the line and the struts.

Throughout the summer, we have fought an increasingly more tense battle. Every washing day, I go out with a Ken Dodd tickling stick and sweep them of the line. Every night, they return to spin even more complex and multitudinous webs.

But this morning, the beggars seriously escalated the warfare. I couldn't even get to the washing line; they had spun a web across our back passage between the side of the house and the fence!! I had to fight me way through it with the washing bag before I could even begin to use the tickling stick.

As Mrs O laughed, "Next time you step outside the back door, they'll probably drop a net over you!!"

because I don't have a very large garden I tend to take down the rotary drier after use and put it (with cover on) back in the shed; so no - no spider problems. But getting to the shed to get said washing line out is a different matter - lots of spiders that spin their web between the shed and the trellis that I've got in front of the shed to hide it a bit

I take the line own and put the cover over it too Ria, cos our garden's small and it's just there, right in the middle, otherwise.

Small garden spiders don't bother me too much, so I just sweep the webs off ;)
