We've seen Queeny

Postby debih » 10 Jul 2014, 10:02

We went out to give her a wave. I managed to video them driving past. She's due back again in about 15 minutes so I'll try for photos this time.

It was really nice as a little further down the road the local school was out and the car slowed right down to give them a wave.

S is in Matlock and says its absolutely packed. Here, we were so close we could have touched the car.

She's gone again. Off to Chatsworth for lunch.

We were even closer this time as there was a parked car by the side of the road so we stood on the road side of that rather than the pavement side. So close I could have touched the car.

She looked lovely - all in turquoise. The photo I got is rubbish though! Will see what S got later.

Such a shame that L was at school (the teachers are on strike but only for yrs 9 upwards. Yrs 7 and 8 are in school. I think its a shame they weren't allowed down into town - the last time the queen came was 20 years ago).

Oh wow how exciting! I have never managed to see her myself - my mum and sister did when she opened a shopping centre in Staines, donkey's years ago, but I was in London at work that day

Then a few years ago she came to Gloucester Docks, with Prince Phillip, and I was literally yards away working in the shop, but we weren't allowed to leave the shop so I missed her again!

I think my nephew, in his Naval duties on HMS President, on the day of the Jubilee, has had the best views of HM though 8-) 8-) 8-)

My mother has spoken with the Queen. She was with a group at Windsor and the Queen was patron of the society. The Queen was introduced to the members. My mother spoke about cacti for several minutes with the Queen. We have several photos of the occasion.
That was about 20 years ago.

My daughter and I got a personal wave from the Queen once. She was visiting Bushy Park, near Hampton Court, I can't remember the occasion. We were walking home when I suddenly realised the traffic had all vanished so we stopped and waited. A few minutes later, out popped her car through the park gates in Hampton Hill. We were the ony people there, just standing at the side of the road and she gave us a wave. :D :D :D :D
