No thanks to Sky! We were booked in for an engineer to come yesterday between 1pm and 6pm. I sat and waited and waited...and waited some more. As you can imagine, having no internet meant that all of the housework was done apart from two jobs - the hoovering and mowing the lawn in the back garden. Noisy jobs so I wouldn't hear the doorbell if I started either.
When he hadn't arrived by 5.30pm I phoned Sky to double check. The woman said she couldn't see that an engineer had been assigned to the job but she'd check and get back to me. She did and said that Openreach had discovered that there was a fault in the exchange affecting all in our area code with fibre broadband (some of our neighbours were off too we found out last night) so the engineer had been cancelled.
Nice of them to let me know She said that they don't have the ability to see who has been cancelled and make any contact which sounds like a total load of carp to me.
Anyway, it came back on in the early hours so all is well with the world now
