Voluntary work

Postby Ally » 26 Jun 2014, 11:11

A few weeks ago Jacob went into Malaga for an interview as there had been an advert looking for 18-22 year olds to help out at a summer camp near Ronda in July.

The camp will have 50 young teenagers, boys and girls, all from Northern Spain who've never been on holiday before.

The volunteers will help out with day trips, camping, cooking, hill climbing, etc, and for Jacob (because he speaks English too) a little bit of language swapping.

He got a call this morning to say he'd been successful and chosen as one of the volunteers. :D :D

I'm really proud of Jacob - he's always had a really 'kind' side to him and is ever such a helpful lad.

Proud mum moment. :D :D

Ally, it will be a great experience for Jacob, and really good on his CV.

My daughter did a similar thing in USA summer camp and the confidence it gave her to go do other things was fabulous.

He will love it and get so much from it. Well done him.

I said to him he probably got chosen for his strength - he'll be lugging half the camping equipment probably.

I've met him, as you know Ally, and although it was very brief he came across as a lovely kind and well mannered young man. He'll have a blast with the kids and as WM says, it will be a very useful addition to his CV.

Oh that sounds an amazing opportunity; how long will the camp run for?

And agree - it will look good on the CV.

Well done him and you and Don!
