Luke's bungalow

is a definite. Tim is coming round, but will never be happy about it. People are so kind though. We have a local electrical shop that my nan used, my mum used and I use. I called in there to see what sort of package they could offer and she gave me a good price on a fridge/freezer, a condenser dryer, a washing machine and a microwave and then when I told her why I needed them, she threw in a free Panasonic vacuum cleaner. She is trying to source us a good price on a free standing cooker with an induction hob, which aren't cheap. And she has offered to have them delivered to her house so she can keep them in her garage.

My stepsister gave me a lovely pair of cream curtains, and said they will buy all Luke's crockery and cutlery.

And one of the GP's just text me to say she is emptying out her rental house so we could have wardrobes, sofas's dining room furniture and she even offered to hire a van to deliver it. Problem is we have no room to store anything and also he doesn't need any of those, but it was kind of her and I always feel bad saying no.

Had a bad timing moment yesterday. Thought would take Kay up to see it. Pulled up in the car parking space and immediately round the corner to Luke's bungalow is a house. Just one house, in amongst the bungalows. I heard Kay so "oh no, that'll completely finish Tim off" I turned round and several women in full burkha dress were unloading several cars and moving in. Kay is very racist, so I wasn't surprised. I knew Tim wouldn't be bothered and like me feels they will be far better neighbours than a white family, with kids. They won't be having drunken parties, playing loud music, barbecuing in the garden, screaming at their children "oy Dwayne, get your a**e in this effing house" Like I heard a mother shout when I was at the shops the other day.

Although I am not sure how the neighbours will feel, as the other night when Patty and I were talking to the neighbour, she said "we were really relieved to see you, we said thank God they are English, we have no foreigners round here" Oh dear, she does now

How long before Luke gets to move in, and is his care package properly sorted out Shell?

Nosey, I know, but these things are really interesting. :D

Thank you xxx

Not nosey at all Frank, interested which is lovely

Luke's care profile has been written up, it gets anonymised and sent to all the care providers on the approved provider framework list. If they are interested they apply to provide care. We (Tim and myself, Joe from Continuing Health (the commissioners), Zoe from the Community Team and Rachael, Luke current key worker who is coming with us) then shortlist, by reading their company profile and looking at the CQC inspections and we invite probably about 4 for interview. When we have chosen our provider they then recruit a team around Luke and again, we interview the candidates, with Rachael, who will be team leader. We wouldn't consider a provider that wouldn't appoint her in that role.

So I think we are probably looking at the end of August to be honest

How wonderful to see this all coming together, Shell - what you have wanted for so long. Fingers crossed that everything works out as you would like and very soon, Luke will be happily installed.

How things have changed Shell, how they have changed.

It is really heartening to know that you have a team working in your, and Luke's, best interests, and that you and Tim are involved in what now happens - who provides what, where and when.

It has been a long journey, but thankfully we have at long last realised that some of the most vulnerable in our society are not there because of their own doing, but because those are the cards they were dealt at birth.

I'll be poking my nose in again at the end of August, if not before.
