Hurrah. I am done as chair and just have one more meeting in a fortnights time and then I intend on standing down completely.

And as for next Tuesday - didn't I mention that June is my dry month?

Dry white wine, dry cider, dry vermouth......

The relief is amazing. Especially as on Monday night the head handed in her resignation (as I was expecting) on the grounds of ill health and asked to be released early (her resignation should run until the end of December but she has asked to finish before the summer holidays). All governors agreed.

She was off yesterday (as planned) and has come in today to see the staff and to tell the children that she is leaving. A letter will be going out to parents at the end of the day today. But yesterday she went to see her doctor and he has signed her off for 3 months - so today is effectively her last day.

She has decided not to tell the parents and children that she won't actually be coming back after today - I think she just wants to slip away quietly with the least amount of fuss. She does intend on coming back for the leavers service, on the last day of term, so she can say a proper goodbye to them and they can say goodbye to her.

I am so glad that it isn't my problem anymore.
