Hi everyone,

Hoping to get some ideas for birthday presents....I have quite a few big birthdays this year and not got a clue, so any ideas greatly appreciated...I usually spend about £20-30 each on people but got a feeling I will need to spend more!

My dad is 65 next month, mum is 60 the next month, then the following month my sis is 40...................not to mention my nieces turning 16 and 21!

I did get my mum and dad a short boat trip towards their birthdays from Groupon ;) but need to get something else!

argh!!

xx

Oh wow!!! How about some pampering for your sis, one of those voucher things you can buy?

What hobbies if any do your parents have? or are they into gardening? Anything for the garden was always a hit with mine :)

16 year olds always appreciate money IME but I expect you want to get something more personal - what is she into?

thanks Kaz, 16yr old will prob get money lol, or vouchers for shops or something?!

haven't a clue about mum & dad, they don't really have any hobbies....I was looking into these personalised frame print things when you get name/dates etc for my sister so will keep looking, got until September for her ;)

Are your nieces quite girly? If so what about a voucher to get their nails done or something like that?

I wish I could help you with your parents, but I always have the same problem as mine don't really have any hobbies either.

Mine didn't have hobbies except for their garden, so if I was really desperate I bought a garden voucher, but often got plants or stuff. For their Golden Wedding J (sis) and I clubbed together and got them a Golden Wedding rose bush. It's in their memorial planter now 8-)

The frame is a nice idea Poll xxx

How about a montage of family photos for your mum and dad Poll?

It's lovely going through photos that you think they'll like and then putting them all in a frame. :)

That's a good idea, I ordered a photo book for my parents one year and they loved that!

Yes, a garden voucher is always a last resort gift for mine too.

I don't think you need to spend any more Poll, rather just try to get things that have a bit more thought because of the special birthdays - but the 16 & 21-yr-olds will always appreciate money or vouchers :)

is the 21 year old living away from home or thinking of it soon? My Nana called it a glory box, and from about 16 (I think) her and my great Nana would always give me something for there, so I got casserole dishes, sheets, towels, tea towels, really boring stuff for that age group, but I really appreciated it when I moved into my own home at 21. There was basically nothing I needed for the kitchen, as I had it all.

what age do you learn to drive over there? it's 16 here. I'm thinking a driving lesson or a petrol voucher...
