It all happens round us

Got home this evening around 9pm to find two ambulance cars, a police car and a fire brigade 4x4 parked all over our little lane and flashing lights placed in strategic places. Knew exactly what had happened when we saw where the flashing lights were - we are surrounded by caves and pot holes - a caver in distress.

The cave rescue ambulance arrived around 10pm. But it took until 12am for the cave rescue people to appear carrying a stretcher with a woman on - couldn't see her but heard her chatting away so assume she's ok.

I caught bits of conversation and it sounds as though they (the woman who was rescued and her friend) are staying at our friends hotel just down the road - we go there on a Friday night so will get the goss tomorrow.

Thank goodness she was okay. The thought of caving gives me the willies! :o

Caves - no thanks!

I once went on a tour of Ingleborough caves and though I am not claustrophobic all I could think of was all the unsupported weight up above. I was glad to get out.

it's good to know that the lady was, or seemed to be, OK.

there is a place here on the North coast where it is possible to walk through old lava tunnels -quite interesting if a bit wet-and you dont mind the thought of what's above your head!

have done Cheddar caves in the past but would never fancy pot-holing

Mick used to be in cave rescue many years ago - him and his dad.

They are both too unfit now!
