S has a job

She's really chuffed.

It's at the pub in the village next to ours (across the fields rather than by road. A 20 minute walk over the fields from us). I've known the landlady for years and we usually go for a drink there on a Friday night. Mick asked about jobs for S last time he was in.

Colette rang tonight to see if she was interested in 3 hours on a Saturday 12 to 3. In the little kitchen prepping the veg for Sunday lunch and pot washing if it's busy. £5 an hour!

Colette and her partner will make a fab first boss and there's promotion possibilities to waitressing!

She starts next Saturday.

The is the place - it's where they do the world chicken racing. It's a bonkers place - she'll love it.

That is just brilliant Debih :D
I've always said the very best kind of first/holiday/part-time job is any kind of catering. Not necessarily for any kind of career, but as a skill you can use.
You can go on to learn waitressing, as well as all kinds of kitchen/prepping/cooking stuff.
It means you can always get a job, anywhere in the world :) Fantastic if at any time you want to go off travelling :)

Fabulous news Debs. :D :D

My two both started in catering and when they got "on the floor" sometimes got more in tips than their wages!

Go for it S, it's an opportunity, make the most of it.... !

I started off pot washing, then chambermaiding, then waitressing and then bar work - all at the same hotel. I was there for years whilst I was at school and college.

I didn't start off with it at all, but years later worked part-time in a wine bar, doing the cold food. I loved it, we won an Egon Ronay award (Just a fiver).

I worked in a Debenhams coffee shop for a year once - they decided I was better with people than food, so put me front of house mostly  :P ;)

That's great Debih! :D

My 3 started off as early as possible (their choice) with a little part time job and it's definitely paved the way for them to manage money and enjoy having their 'own' cash. :D :D

I'm sure S will love it. :D
