That was a long day!
They had to re-jig the list as someone had to have a general rather than local anaesthetic after all so they had to be slotted in earlier.
Once we knew Bb wouldn't be going in till about 3 or after, I went off to have a wander round Shirley (not a place you'd choose to wander round but it's close!). I got back soon after 4 and he was sitting on the recovery seat, had had his round of toast and was on his second coffee
The pharmacy had huge queues though (the porter goes to collect each prescription) so we were all waiting ages. They're really nice and the lovely nurse went and made me a cup of tea In the end they sent us home with some of their emergency stock of drops, we got home about 20 minutes ago.

The surgeon came out to see Bb and said it went smoothly which is a relief, as it's not a standard cataract op. There was also a delay as he decided it would be better to make that eye 'moderately short-sighted' rather than as good as it could be, as it will balance the other eye better
He's feeling fine but knackered, and of course can hardly see as he can't put his glasses on - can take the shield thingy off in the morning

Glad it's over for him Di - vibes for a speedy recovery xxx

He wears very strong glasses anyway, for both eyes. This one is (hopefully) now going to be much better - but that will mean he can't wear his old glasses. He's not supposed to go for anew prescription for 4-6 weeks, but he'd be stranded!
Would it make sense to have just the one lens replaced in a week or so, as a temporary measure??

The problem is Di that vision takes a good long while to 'settle', so if he had a new lens put in in a week or so, by the time the 4-6 weeks are up, they might be a different prescription. Usually, patients are asked to use the drops they give you and once they have been used up, then is the time to have an eye test and have the appropriate lens changed. So sorry - not much help!

Mind you, some people have the lens taken out of the frame completely as a temporary measure. At least the eye that hasn't had the cataract op will be useful

Actually Gal that was mentioned, taking the lens out, so it might be a good idea, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

He's just gone to bed now bless him, he's completely worn out. I'm pretty well pooped myself
