Good evening

I is back.
I had a lovely week, that just went too fast. I have never understood why people want to do this before, but now I do and that is turn off the phone and no internet. I needed it so much. I turned my phone on Monday morning, and within 5 mins it rang and straight away I was a shaking panicking mess. It was just the GP, who is now going to do Luke's mental capacity assessment
Alnwick was very quiet, especially as the castle was closed and the gardens were a bit disappointing. I suppose the time of year doesn't help, as there was nothing really to see, we were in and out in less than an hour.
We went to Edinburgh on the train on Tuesday. Edinburgh is very dramatic. We did the open top bus tour and an underground tour. It was very hilly, my legs ached for days.
Weds we went to Holy Island, and had a wander. Bamburgh, which is a lovely little village and we visited Bamburgh Castle. Then we stopped at Seahouses on the way back, as I thought that sounded lovely.....it wasn't.
Yesterday we went to Alnwick Castle gardens, called in to Barter Books, but Tim was champing at the bit, so then we went to Alnmouth and had a lovely bracing walk along the beach.
The apartment was really lovely, very warm, comfortable and beautifully furnished. Yet another holiday let that is better furnished than my house But, there was a horrible smell. We first noticed it when we were climbing the stairs as we arrived and it seemed to come from the flat downstairs, as it stopped at our front door. However, when we opened our door it hit us again. It was coming from the en-suite and the kitchen, the family bathroom was fine. We poured litres of bleach down the plug holes, ran the dishwasher, bought some Mr Muscle, but it kept coming back. With our amateur sleuth hats on, we deduced that the flat downstairs was empty, as the post in their box was addressed to the Executors so we are wondering if there is a drainage problem? I think I will have to tell the owner, which is a shame as the flat really was lovely, but he needs to know.
So now we are home. In some ways I wish we could just have tomorrow to ourselves, but we have promised to pick Luke up and it will be nice to have him home.
Washing on, tumble dryer on, phone on, back to normal
