I can get good reception on four local radio stations. Listen to one in the morning and a a different one in the afternoon/evening. Both have good programmes about local and national issues. Also easy listening music.
My MIL always has BBC Radio Gloucestershire on but it's a bit 'local' for my tastes
When Mick and I were first together we had to drive across country every Saturday to collect B and H (the ex would only let me have them for the one night then) and as we drove through Oxfordshire we picked up local radio there, and they had a weekly competition called "Tool of the Week" which wasn't about TV personalities or Slebs as you might imagine, but was actually the noise of a power tool or farm tool played over the air and people had to ring in and guess what it was........
They have a competition on our local station to guess a song they play a bit of , EVERY person that rings in and guesses gets a reply of " THATS A GOOD GUESS BUT ITS NOT RIGHT ". Well if its not right it aint that bloody good a guess is it ???
Admittedly I only listen to it in the morning when I wake up and whilst I'm getting ready to go to work, and whilst in the car, but I quite like my local radio station; they play a very good mix of current and old music. And their traffic reports are always local which is what I need
I listen to our local BBC station - WM - throughout the day. It's not too bad, mainly chat and discussion. I have a radio on the iPod dock in the kitchen. I don't like stations that play a lot of music because what they play is rarely to my taste.
There do seem to be regulars calling in on certain shows though.
