Having a bit of a rant UPDATED AGAIN

as you really do have to wonder what this country is coming to :? :( :(

First up, at the moment D (my MIL) as part of her voluntary job with Age UK is visiting a lady who is only 58, but has multiple health issues. She has MS and very poor eyesight and mobility because of that, so uses a wheelchair. She has had two strokes so can only use her right arm - but is left handed. She also only has one kidney due to a childhood illness. Now would you regard this lady as employable? Can you believe she has been told by the DWP (or whoever do this these days) that she is fit to do some work "You could do telesales perhaps" she has been informed  :( :( She of course has told them she can't, so this afternoon was facing a home visit and was very stressed about it when D visited her yesterday :| :(

Secondly, D has had a letter today from the CPS, despite that young man confessing to breaking her window the case has been dropped "Due to lack of evidence"   :x More likely it is too much trouble as if he is prosecuted they will have to decide what exactly to do with him - and the lack of mental health resources around here is pretty obvious every time you walk through the city centre to be honest :(

Thirdly, despite numerous phone calls, complaints etc the glass company have still not been out to fix D's window :!:

Do you know, despite the fact that I would miss her like mad, I really hope that B's animal conservation career does take her abroad, to build a good life, as this country has just about had it in my opinion :| :|

How much more bloody evidence do they need??? Utterly appalling :x

And that poor lady, what a stressful situation for her. I hope that whoever visited her today actually listened and looked at her case with sense, and compassion.

It's enough to make you want to march into Westminster and drag Cameron, Clegg, Miliband and the Attorney General out by their ears and deliver them, kicking and screaming, to see D and the lady and get them to explain what the hell is going on. :x :x :x :x :x

So a hug for her and D, from me Kaz.

Thanks Ton, D is such a 'giving' sort of person and deserves a lot better than this - as does the lady she visits :? Her late husband was in the forces so as his widow she deserves better than to be treated like a scrounger :? They already cut her benefits because of his pension :?

The CPS is the Crown Prosecution Service, they decide what will go to court and what won't

It's an outrage Kaz, we learned that the woman who shot the traffic lights in her BMW, when she was talking on her mobile phone, crashed into a pushchair and killed two little ones on the pavement.
SHE WAS FOUND...NOT GUILTY.... THIS DAMNED COUNTRY "HAS GONE TO THE DOGS"

The poor lady Kaz, what the DWP are doing is just dreadful. She will be able to appeal and would definitely win that, but it's still hugely stressful to have to go through it at all.

As for the window, absolutely appalling of the glass company
But for the actual offence, I suspect it would be different if he was a habitual offender, but it did sound as if this was a one (well, two)-off which may have been their deciding factor I suppose. Doesn't necessarily make it right, but as you say, what could they actually do with him?

Kate that is a shocking story :(

Di I have no doubt she would win on appeal as nobody could possibly employ this poor lady, but as you say it is horribly stressful, the system has become so bullying  :( :(

I guess you are right, re the window breakage, but it just shows how much of a failure the system has become. Twenty years ago he would have gone to court and then they would have found him some medical help, which he obviously badly needs :? :(

It's very depressing :? :(
