Well to be more precise we actually got back yesterday morning
Flight home was okay, don't know why but I prefer daytime flights, can never get comfortable and sleep on overnight ones. Our pick up went without a hitch, it's worth every penny having someone drive us home, don't think I'd be able to keep my eyes open for 2hrs or more on the motorway.
Once we walked into the house though things quickly unravelled. Our landline was playing up before we left, it was supposed to be a problem at the exchange that could be quickly sorted, well it was as dead as a dodo when we tried it so I was onto sky before we'd even got our coats off. They said they'd chase it up, but it could take anything up to 48hrs. Anyway to our surprise the engineer turned up mid afternoon and after investigation it turned out to be a fault between the connection outside our house and into the hallway which was easily fixed.
Result we thought, but while this was all going on and E was chatting to the engineer he suddenly felt something wet on his head and looked up to see water coming through the light in the hall Upstairs he went to find the water cylinder in the airing cupboard had sprung a leak so mad panic looking for the plumber's number. Easier said than done, the internet was still down and we couldn't find the phone directory, so it was panic stations while we ran round like headless chickens with bowls and buckets trying to catch the water and prevent too much damage Finally found the number and the leak is fixed, but we we're left without hot water. Apparently a part needed ordering so it was fingers crossed it could be sorted today rather than in a week's time. Oh and we had no lights downstairs as the box kept tripping, we'll have to wait for things to dry out and hope we can turn them on later. Putting my positive head on it could have been worse, it could have happened while we were away which would have caused lots of damage. What a palaver though, we both wanted to turn round and go back to Barbados immediately
We were up quite early, or at least I was lol The cases which we just dumped in the spare sitting room are still sat there waiting to be unpacked though and there's very little food in the house. The good news is the plumber has just turned up and says he can get everything sorted within an hour or so They say things come in threes so fingers crossed the car starts when we finally galvanise ourselves to go out.
Had a lovely message on FB this morning from Jackquelyne the owner of Gentle Breeze, oooh so wish we were back there right now.
Altogether we had a brilliant holiday, yes E had a few blips early on, not surprising really considering all he went through last year, but it was better for it to happen over there with all the lovely distractions. I think it would have happened anyway tbh and would have been far worse here and probably sent him into a bit of depression. He's nicely chilled at the moment so even all this hassle hasn't dented him too much
