L's Friday night dinner treat

Postby debih » 07 Mar 2014, 18:40

Aren't they funny with what they class as a treat. Children that is.

S has taken to going to her boyfriends house for dinner every Friday after school (we get the pleasure of his company all day Saturday or Sunday) and as Mick has a chip lunch on a Friday he never wants to eat until late so L was eating on her own.

The past 4 weeks she has asked if she can have a special treat for her dinner and tells me on a Thursday night what she wants. Tonight has been a macaroni cheese ready meal, last week and the week before was a spinach and ricotta ready meal and the week before that was a cauliflower cheese ready meal.

She sees them as a treat as she gets sick of "proper" food.

When I was little a ride in a car was a treat, as we went everywhere by bus or train - my parents didn't drive :) When my kids were little they went almost everywhere by car and considered the bus or train a big treat :D :D

It's the change from the norm that gives things a 'treat' factor ;)

We were the same Kaz. I looked forward to going in a car so much, even though I was terribly travel sick.

It's because you "spoil " your children with proper food Debih ;)

My treat?

pop and a packet of crisps when Dad was in the pub, with one of his many floosies

That was the only time I was allowed crisps
