Are you superstitious?

My colleague arrived at work this morning and, as she and I often do when it's been raining, she propped open her brolly in the office so it could dry out. Doesn't bug me or her, but one of the bosses walked in, looked at it and said "you know you shouldn't do that; it's really bad luck".

Neither my colleague nor I are superstitious, are you?

As a by the by (or should that be bye the bye?) I find the different superstitions super interesting and would love to know the reasoning behind some of them :D

Not really - and where else are you going to dry a wet umbrella??

Maybe walking under a ladder was because things do get dropped sometimes ;)

No I'm not :D

I remember at junior school, we had to walk from our little school to the boys' school for lunch. If an ambulance went buy you had to hold your collar, until something else happened - can't remember what though? Saw a cat??
And I think it was an ambulance :?

Gosh, I remember that!! We stopped holding our collar when we saw a four legged animal. And yes, it was an ambulance.

I'm not really superstitious, but there again, I can never remember how many magpies you have to avoid seeing .... :D

Load of cobblers ......

Ah! An interesting bit of Cockney rhyming slang, that, actually. Mind you, I had to look it up!

Thank you Molly, I knew it was something like that! :D

One for sorrow, two for joy Ossie, and if it's one you're supposed to greet them. Good morning Mr Magpie is all I ever knew, but apparently there's a longer greeting, to do with wife & children? :?
But it only counts in the morning  :?

I don't walk under ladders but otherwise the only superstition I have is if I see a lone magpie, I always mutter "Morning Mr Magpie, how's the wife?" under my breath if I do...... :?

Otherwise I am entirely sane....................... :? :P
