Our cleaner at work is from Bolivia and she was just telling me that in the last 2 weeks up to 40 people have been killed there, due to landslides caused by excessive rain. She comes from Santa Cruz and apparently quite a few of the roads there are flooded and her parents are very worried about the waters rising and coming into the homes.

Think this is something that large parts of Europe are facing with heavy rain and floods.

Watching the news this morning, a lot of Central Portugal, especially around Santerem, just down from Lisbon, is flooded. The river Tagus has burst it's banks and people are being rescued by the maritime police.

Horrible news, all of it
I've more or less given up watching the news for now, it's quite depressing enough just looking out of the window!

You're right Di.
We watched the news again earlier and it's also the Douro which has burst it's banks.
The north is getting far worse then us.
