My dream

Postby miasmum » 28 Jan 2014, 23:11

I have had this dream a few times. It fascinates me.

I am in a hotel, I think it is in Ilfracombe (where I went with mum and where Tim and I stayed a couple of times including our honeymoon, we went back for our 25th). But outside doesn't look like Ilfracombe, but I have a feeling it is. In my dream I know I stayed there before, and I stayed in room number 8. I have a need to see room 8 again, but I can't find it. But then I go for a walk round the hotel. There is a winding staircase, and rooms off it but no room 8. But I know it is up another little staircase somewhere. So I wander around and finally I find it, but it is locked and I can't get in, and the hotel people tell me someone else is staying there so I can't see the room.

I wake up and it stays with me all day. I would love to know what it all means

If I say that in dreams houses (well buildings really) represent the self, and our state of mind, does that help? xxx

No idea about houses and the self but maybe my own interpretation fits that anyway? :?

To me it's not dissimilar to a dream I once had (no I won't bore you with it) and would say that as you stayed there with your mum, it's her who is in room 8 and of course you'd like to see her in real life but can't x

Dreams are funny things, and it's not always easy to understand them.

Medication is, I believe, often responsible.

For years I used to regularly have the same dream about living in a house that
was nothing like any I had ever seen. It had a long room at the back overlooking
a garden, but it was impossible to go to the windows because there was a very
deep and wide trench the whole width of the room, with handrails along it.
I was haunted by thoughts of what was at the bottom of that trench, but never
found out.

Oh Aggers thats an interesting dream

I am not sure about my mum Di. I think it is more that I want to escape to somewhere else and possibly back in time. It is the stairs the fascinate me, what do stairs mean in dreams Kaz?

I looked it up! :D

Staircase

To see a staircase in your dream symbolizes change and transformation.

To dream of an incomplete staircase or steps missing from the staircase implies that you are trying to move on to the next phase or stage without accomplishing all the necessary steps. You are trying to take shortcuts.

Stairs

To dream that you are walking up a flight of stairs indicate that you are achieving a higher level of understanding. You are making progress into your spiritual, emotional or material journey. The dream is also analogous to material and thoughts that are coming to the surface.

To dream that you are walking down a flight of stairs represents your repressed thoughts. You are regressing back into your subconscious. It also refers to the setbacks that you are experiencing in your life. If you are afraid of going down the stairs, then it means that you are afraid to confront your repressed emotions and thoughts. Is there something from your past that you are not acknowledging?

To dream that you slip or trip on the stairs signify your lack of self confidence or conviction in the pursuit of some endeavor. If you slip going up the stairs, then it means that you are moving too fast toward attaining your goals. If you slip going down the stairs, then it suggests that you are moving too quickly in delving into your subconscious. You may not be quite ready to confront your subconscious or repressed thoughts.

To see spiral or winding stairs signify growth and/or rebirth.

I went up and down  but they were winding stairs

I used that site too and looked up hotel and that was interesting

Hotel

To see a hotel in your dream signifies a new state of mind or a shift in personal identity. You are undergoing some sort of transition and need to move away from your old habits and old way of thinking. You need to temporarily escape from your daily life. Alternatively, the dream may imply a loss in your personal identity.
