Brittany ideas

We (I hope) are thinking of going to Brittany in the summer. We will take the car on the ferry to St Malo and don't want to drive too far from the port, no more than an hour or so. We have never been together, but D has stayed in Lannion with work a few years ago and quite liked it there. Any ideas would be lovely. Ta :D

Hi Loz, going back many, many years I remember the area around Carnac fondly - it's near Vannes. Thing is, it all depends on what you are looking for - camping, hotel, self-catering - but good luck with whatever you choose.

I will ask my friends later Loz, as they've travelled all over in their camper. If they can't help, I'll ask Tom on Friday, as he's coming round for dinner.

Well, they weren't much help, sorry Loz. They have itchy feet and travel a lot, so an hour from the ferry isn't far enough for them ;) All they could say was that the south-west was good.

But I'll ask Tom tomorrow xx

Perhaps you could stretch the hour a little and reach Morlaix and Brest one way and St Michel, the lovely bridge over the Seine and Rouen the other.

The area around the coastal resort of La Baule in Brittany is beautiful Loz. La Baule is 89 miles from St Malo and the roads were good when we went there years ago so it should be a straightforward drive. There are medieval walled towns to visit and I've tried to find some good tourism websites for the area but they all seem rather dull. This website has got links to the surrounding areas and some decent photographs. It's a start for focussing on an area and see where it leads you.
