It's not a jug as such Saundra, it's one of these coffee pod machines so I think there're some pipes that needed descaling too.

I got the citric acid off Ebay though and there're instructions for kettles on the label - it says to add 50g-60g to a half full kettle, keep boiling it for 10 minutes and then rinse throughly.

But yeah, otherwise one of Ton's lemons would do the trick

I dunno Saundra but you can do it with vinegar, I expect it's the same :)
Just pour some in - about an inch - add water but not too full. Leave the lid open so you can keep an eye on it.
Set it to boil, but switch it off once it starts to bubble, then close the lid and leave it for 30-60 mins.

Once done fill with clean water and boil 2-3 times :)
Much cheaper than descaler and does the same job :)

We were posting at the same time :)

Saundra, I've just looked that up and A4 measures 11.69"x 8.27"
Would the picture be 10" x 8"?

Saundra, white vinegar works, I have tried it - a cup or so and topped up with water.

The same thing works in the washing machine to descale, desoapify and desmell the damned things.

Yes Saundra, I use white if I have it, malt if I don't, although instructions will say white it makes no difference :)
The water here is hard, it always has been wherever I've lived so am well used to it :D
Tastes lovely but does fur things up :)

Watch it though, it does fizz up - but so does 'proper' descaler.

Use vinegar instead of fabric conditioner - no the clothes won't smell of vinegar, and it does the same job, at the same time de-thingying the w/machine :)

Oooh no! I have to have my Comfort 'hit' when the clothes come out of the machine.
