aaarrgggggg......

Sometimes I amaze myself at my own stupidity .....

Ava (one of my cats) is desperate for a manicure and pedicure; she (and two others) often gets her claws stuck on soft things like rugs, bedding etc. This evening she was trying to get off a cat tree in the lounge and somehow managed to get one of her back claws well and truly hooked into the fleecy material that covers it and was struggling to get down. So of course first thing I instinctively did was jump up from the sofa, wine glass in hand, and rush to her rescue.... and doh!!! put the glass onto the cat tree and as I put it down I just knew it's going to fall right over (and it's red wine!). You know that slow motion effect; well that's what happened. So one hand reaches out for Ava whilst the other very unsuccessfully tries to catch the glass and stop the contents from spilling all over the pale cream lounge curtain. Sigh :(

Managed to get Ava unstuck though, so that counts for something :)

Cream curtain is now in the wash and I just hope the stain comes out - I've put it on an intensive wash and added Vanish as well as another German stain product (Gallseife). Thankfully the cream lounge carpet which now also sports a delightful red stain is well past sell by date and is being replaced with wood effect flooring early next year

And in the meantime the red stain will sort of match the decorations on the Christmas tree

I can just picture what happened.

But don't worry.

They say worse things happen at sea.

Oh heck Ria, sounds like the sort of thing I'd do  xxxx

White wine sometimes lifts red wine, but I think you have to do it while it's still wet? :? Plus of course it's a terrible waste of wine

Hard floors are far more practical with animals anyway, so that is a good idea - I seem to spend my life mopping and hoovering these days, and Mick has used the Vax several times since FraggyMuddyPaws adopted us! :?

Well, I am very pleased to report that the curtain has come out the machine spotless :P :P :P :P :P I think the fact that I got it into the machine so quickly and on a fairly long cycle definitely helped. So I now once more have nice clean curtains in the lounge. Phew! as I really didn't fancy having to buy new ones.

Kaz, I can't wait for that carpet in the lounge to go, it really is in a rather sad state and regardless of how much vacuuming I do it's a magnet for cat hair, esp as five of mine are all either long or semi long haired. And once I get the hard floor I'll be investing in a steam mop - my SIL has one and it's fab!

LOL Saundra - I've put my bin out on the wrong days more than once as well. If anyone asks you can always say you were planning on being away on the proper day ;)

Carpets are warmer though, and anyway Minnie absolutely hates wooden floors.

While she was poorly she even tried to avoid the kitchen with its tiles, she would slip too easily, and couldn't sit without her feet sliding away from her :o
