Simple pleasures..

Today was just one of those lovely days. Michael's 4th birthday and he wanted to play golf for his birthday treat (now, there's a surprise ) so his mum and dad decided that it might be a nice day to see how he would get on playing on a proper short course, the local pitch and putt which is part of a bigger golf course. Mr. Osc was asked along, and Miss Osc and I said we would go for a walk, there are some lovely walks on the outer edges of the golf course.
Thankfully, it was a glorious day, extremely cold but dry and sunny. Michael took to the "proper" golf like a duck to water, ran laughing from hole to hole, generally grasped the concept of a proper game, and played the whole 18 holes They had thought he might get fed up after a few holes but not a bit of it. Miss Osc and I had a super walk, to the top of a nearby rocky hill from where the views were absolutely stunning - a place we know well, but I haven't walked up there for quite some time. We could see down to the pitch and putt and the two bigger figures being led around by one little one. It's not often Miss Osc and I get to have a good chat, so we had a lovely hour, then when the men were finished, we headed off to a local tea rooms for, variously, hot chocolate, cappucinos and a green tea. It was such a simple, beautiful family few hours - I'm not particularly religious but on days like this I count my blessings - not only do I live somewhere very nice, but life is even better now that Miss Osc and her little family live nearby. I said to her how lucky we are to live somewhere so lovely and she says she thinks that every day when she is driving to work, I'm so glad they feel it was the right move for them.
So I've just have a really nice simple ordinary day and wanted to tell you about it
