That 80's look

Well this coming weekend is that dreaded hen weekend - sigh :( For the Saturday evening we're expected to dress up 80's style - needless to say over 20 years later I do not have anything that remotely resembles anything 80's and as this weekend has already cost me an arm and a leg I don't want to spend any more money, esp on an outfit I'll never wear again!

I'm sure I've got a very old jumper somewhere that I can cut the sleeves off to make leg warmers, but what else would you do / make with what you have in your wardrobe now?

I can only think of leggings, baggy top and legwarmers :?
Shoulder pads??
Ra Ra skirt...
And big hair
Not exactly a fashion decade really, was it??

The 80s, the decade music and fashion forgot.....

So that will mean wild big hair with an ironic bow hanging on for dear life somewhere, and maybe a tiny plait with coloured tissue inserts. Foundation will be the palest of pale with dark eye make-up and lipstick. Thick braces over a tee shirt with the sleeves ripped off will hold up a puffer skirt with leggings and ankle warmers. Footwear could be anything from high heels, to Docs to trainers. Nothing should match, especially the colours. :o

I am sure the local charity shop will be able to deck you out for a few quid. ;) :-P :-P

Ria..I'd go for a pair of shocking bright tights, a ra-ra, puffball something kind of skirt, DM's, a sloppy t shirt and make your hair as wild looking as possible. That'll means loads of hairspray.

Plaster on the make up..tell yourself you'll have a great night, get the wine down you and get dancin' to Madonna! :kick: :kick:

Ally, I don't have any of the things you mention and I really don't want to have to buy anything and spend more money than I already have. As it is, by the time I factor in train fare and cat sitter fees this weekend is costing me about £170. I know another £10 won't break the bank but that would buy my lunch for a week or feed the cats for 3 days..... :(
