A refreshing change!

I had a very nice letter today from our gas and electric supplier (utility warehouse).

Our monthly gas and electric bill is currently £150. They have written to say that by using our meter readings, from next month our monthly payment for the next 12 months will be £111 a month.

What a refreshing change.

Sod that!
You mean it's nice of them to stop overcharging you so much?!

We read our own meters each month and pay for exactly what we've used, I don't understand why all bills aren't the same :?

Oh, and last month we paid £58 for the two.

British Gas :?
Gas hot water, on twice a day, 8-9.30am and 5.30-7.30pm.
Heating is gas but only been used for about an hour last month.
Cooker is all electric.
Our most expensive bill last winter - with heating on full-time - was about £100 for both.

We're with British Gas and pay something like £77 a month total for both, electricity is the more expensive of the two but then we have children who haven't yet grasped how to use an off switch when they leave a room.

I might look in to them.

It seems to cost a lot heating our house. Big rooms, high ceilings, lacking in insulation.

I know all our neighbours, who are with a variety of providers, have high bills. Such big houses to heat!

Doesn't sound bad to me Jo - you'd have a lot more washing than us too :)

It does make a big difference Debih, although when we moved in this place was freezing! Since we moved in we've had double glazing put in, a new front door, plus the loft was insulated for free.

Our last house was old and big, like yours Debih. We are with npower for both gas and electricity, and were paying £130 pcm there! We're still with npower, but this house is new and although just as big is therefore much more energy efficient - currently costing us about £90pcm 8-)

We only have double glazing in the lounge and our bedroom. The attic is well insulated but the stone walls are not.

We looked at double glazing but as we are I a conservation area we have to keep the windows looking like sash ones - very expensive.
