Non-sewing sewing.

I am trying to reduce a KS duvet cover to a double size. The length is fine it is the width I need to reduce, but I don't have a sewing machine.

I tried that iron-on tape but it does not hold, as soon as any pressure is applied it rips apart. I used to have this brilliant liquid in an applicator - sort of fabric superglue - but I have no idea what it was called or where to get it. Any ideas, please?

Once I get the 'envelope' made I can do a whipping stitch to secure it but I am not up to doing it 'freehand' with pins and all that malarkey.

Cheers.

I have some, think it came from the 99p shop.

Rodo, why would I have friends with sewing machines? Lawnmowers, generators, motorbike bits, old immersion heaters - yes, but 'Sewing Machines'?

When I was a teenager I had a friend who was quite a hard nut - worked on the roads - I'd been aware of him a long time because girls at school fancied the look of him no end :D He had the most gorgeous body, we'd walk through town hoping for a glimpse of his muscled, brown back, his beautifully firm bum and lean legs in his faded jeans...  8-)

...Where was I? Oh yes! Through a boyfriend I got to know him well and we were really good friends (never anything more, but sometimes it's better to keep the fantasy ;) )
One day he asked me if my mum had a sewing machine - yes - and if I thought she'd let him come round and use it :D
He came the next evening with two pairs of jeans and 2 new zips, and very expertly sewed them in :)
My mum fell in love with him too :D
