Whats for dinner?

Postby debih » 14 Oct 2013, 14:22

Tonight (Matthew) we are having minced beef cobbler with green beans. I'm not sure whether or not to do any potatoes with it as we are having the cobblers (scones).

I am also cooking a chicken casserole but that is for my friend - it smells very good. Her MIL is very, very poorly with pancreatic cancer and not really expected to last the week. She is at home and my friend has made sure that someone is with her 24 hours. She has two sons (the MIL, not my friend) both of whom are pretty useless in coping with it and her other DIL recently lost her own father and is struggling to cope with that and it all seems to have fallen to my poor friend Jo to deal with.

It's her birthday tomorrow (Jo, not the MIL) so I thought I would make a casserole for their dinner. I am in the middle of making her a birthday cake and will make some bread tomorrow to go with the coq au vin. I have bought her a box of champagne truffles and a little bottle of sparkling plonk (we don't usually do presents but I think she deserves one this year).

I shall pop round tomorrow afternoon with it. I might even cook the same thing for us tomorrow night - it does smell very good.

what a lovely friend you are Debih, im sure your friend will really appreciate it :)

we are having chilli, rice and doritos ;) well I made the chill in the slow cooker the other week so defrosted it over night, Amy tried it but its too 'hot' for her, I dont think it is at all, it is made from scratch with spices, lovely!

We also have chocolate trifle (from tesco), after seeing pics from blackpool I seriously need to lose weight, but it can wait a few days lol!
