We do have the same things, fairly regularly, but not on the same days or even weeks; even those might get variations, and it's according to season. But on other days, we have all sorts, there's no rhyme or reason other than what I've bought that week, the weather, what we fancy, what there is to use up...
A constant source of amusement (rightly or wrongly) for Bb and I is a couple we met on holiday in Tunisia.
It wouldn't be our choice to have half board, but it was a sensible option there.
It was hot. Very hot.
We were somehow stuck with this other couple, sharing a table for dinner each evening; the first evening we'd happened to arrive at the same time and were thus assigned. They were nice, it wasn't a problem, except they were odd and funny
There was a big buffet, lots of options, some dishes sitting in warmers, others freshly cooked as you waited. One (particularly hot) night, there was goulash. Now I for one just couldn't possibly have eaten goulash when the temperature was around 35 degrees, but they both did. They commented that normally they would only have goulash every nine weeks.
It emerged that they had devised a 9-week menu for dinners at home. Entered on the computer and stuck like glue
So, just once every 9 weeks they had fish and chips - goulash once - but more to the point, this was a year-round plan, and that more than anything is what puzzles both of us.
Would you really cook and eat goulash in the middle of a summer as we've just had? Or sausages with onion gravy?
And would you have any inclination for ham or chicken salad in November??
I did work with someone though, whose mother had a fortnightly menu, which never, ever altered
