Its raining leaves

The leaves are really coming down today.

I noticed on Monday how many leaves were falling.

Isn't it odd - they have probably been doing this for some time now but all of a sudden you notice it.

It's pretty windy today and I have been pottering in the kitchen and all these leaves keep whizzing past.

Won't be long til the trees are bare now.

I noticed them more today too, I was kicking through them along the road on the way back from the gym and they were really falling from the trees as we walked through the woods. It's so windy today though.

Although it's been very windy here, we haven't had any major leaf-fall yet.

In fact, the back lawn is clearer than it was yesterday, because the wind tends to eddy around the house and move all the leaves into a "drift" in the corner of the patio ... I don't mind that, makes it handy for shovelling them up.

Yes, I can really notice that today, on the fields opposite! My walks into town over the past week have involved a fair bit of wading through or walking around piles of leaves on the pavements - and what colours this year! Deeper and more varied than usual, I would say 8-)

Funny you say that because I was thinking exactly the same thing on my way home yesterday. It's definitely been a very quick onset of the leaf fall this year I think

Not dropping here in any numbers yet. We have had some stiff breezes but nothing strong enough to shift too many.... and certainly no frost.

Not too many leaves have fallen here yet.

This year, on some trees the leaves seem to be turning red on some branches only, which I've not noticed in previous years.

I've even seen isolated branches on conifers going red, which may be because of some disease. (?)

They're falling here but there's not really been much of a spectacular colour change. Maybe that's still to come, the pictures I posted in the photo section were only taken just over a week ago and a lot of trees are still looking pretty green!
