If Don was a chocolate he'd be a soft centre!

We've been putting together a collage of photos for Jacob and Conor's 21st next month and it's been so lovely looking at how they've changed over the years. :D

Don brought down an old cassette tape yesterday (I didn't even know he had it) and it's of the boys aged about 7 playing the recorder! :D
The music finishes and one of the twins (we can't distinguish whose voice it is :? ) says 'there you go dad, did you enjoy that?'

When Don played it to me he got quite teary..and that made me teary.

Life and family are so precious, aren't they? xx

That's lovely Ally :D
When we lived abroad our boys made a recording of themselves singing a made up song for my mum and dad. We rediscovered it after dad died and played it.
We have lots of film footage of when mum and dad used to come out to Switzerland to visit us, but I have never had the courage to watch it

(((((Loz)))))

We've got old videos too Loz and Don put them onto DVDs.

It was so sad seeing Don's dad and brother on them..but lovely too. Iyswim.

The tapes we have (and there are loads!) of our 3 boys are just so funny.

Precious memories. xx

Oh and I've just remembered this!

Yesterday when we were sitting with mum and dad we got talking about sunburn and the boys were laughing and remembering when Don used to put sun factor on them when they were younger and he'd made up a little song that he used to sing to them as he was doing it.

Then they started to sing it! It was so funny they remembered it. :D

Burn baby burn
When ya gonna learn
You need to put on the sun cream
My baby won't burn
In the hot sun
Once he's got on his sun cream

*sang in a mock Jamaican accent!*

Happy days.

Awww

Things like this are so precious though. I never forget when Tom was born and people were visiting and everyone had advice to give - "make sure you always support his head" "hold onto him tightly in the bath" "don't have the rooms to hot/too cold" you know the kind of stuff. Well my favourite Aunty and Uncle came around one day and the only piece of advice that they gave came from my lovely Uncle Rob and what he said was "take lots of photos". That was in the days before digital cameras and I never really bothered much with photos back then so heeding his advice I went through loads of film and I'm so glad that I did because we have 1000s and 1000s of photos in albums now. They were all packed in boxes under the bed but I recently bought a new storage unit for in the study and that's crammed with them now, and I still get plenty printed up rather than just uploading to the computer. The boys love looking through them all.
Videos too, we put them onto DVD a while ago. Gosh, seeing my lovely old Nan on there brings a few tears...but I'm so glad we have this film of her :)
