Graduation

Why is it that we have to emulate the worst of American ideas?
I received what are truly beautiful photographs of my granddaughters graduation, complete with cape and mortar board adorning her pretty head..
A school report for us all to be proud of that shows if she continues the way she is she will excel in most subjects.
Her age? seven she is now going up to the next grade!!!! My grandson has already gone through this procedure....
Oh dear am I old fashioned and a plain misery.. Academies, graduation gowns for children?

Absolute nonsense, but all part of today's "feel-good factor" society.

I do not wish to offend my daughter who is proud of their achievements as I am, this is the second so called "graduation" of my grandson, dressed up in all the fancy dress!! for that is what it is!! The onlypart of the ceremony that impressed me was the child graduates talking in sign language for the benefit of the deaf.

Like Saundra pointed out, proms are another thing that now seem to be becoming a tradition.
I'm just glad I have boys - and Tom's cost enough - when I hear how much friends have spent on dresses, make up, hair, nails, fake tan blah blah blah because their daughters are feeling so pressurized about looking just so.

We didn't even have a disco when we left, it was just a case of right you can go now
