S's cake

Postby debih » 30 Aug 2013, 13:24

I knew it would be difficult to top L's rainbow cake but fortunately S wanted something different. She didn't care what but wanted something chocolatey.

So I made a chocolate sponge covered in chocolate fudge buttercream icing. Here it is waiting to be decorated.

The buttercream is gorgeous - I am amazed that any made it to the cake I ate so much.

And here it is decorated. I ran out of kit kats - I am four fingers short. I put two chocolate covered biscuits on but I don't like the look of it so Mick is going to pick some kit kats up on his way home so I can finish it off. And once they are on I can finish it off with a ribbon.

(I put the pics on facebook to get them on my computer - its the quickest way - and then deleted them as she wants it to be a surprise so your "like" has disappeared Di.) I will put the finished article on tomorrow.

They are.

I was going to use maltesers but thought it needed some colour. So I got normal skittles, Confused skittles (ones that are a different flavour for their colour) and Sour skittles.

S likes skittles!

I'm having the icing. I am going to lick it all off before I put the ribbon on. The icing is really lush - I will be making that again.

I have used 3 whole packs of butter today between this cake and the monkey bread!!!!!!!!!!!
