Scary experience

Postby Osc » 28 Aug 2013, 22:07

This evening we were stopped at red lights at a big junction. Two guys on bicycles appeared from our left hand side, and for some reason I locked the car. Next thing one of them drops his bike right in front of our car, as he is standing up I see a hammer in his hand, then he and his companion proceed to attack the people in the car behind us   Obviously they were watching that car and the bike was put in front of ours to stop us moving thereby stopping the car behind us. Mr. Osc said "move, move" and all I could think of was the car getting tangled up in the bike, but thankfully I was able to move over to the right turning lane beside me. I could see the woman driver of the car behind getting out and running across the road and I think the two young men went for her passenger, I couldn't see exactly as I was moving the car. I'm really not sure what happened, but by the time the lights went green, the guy who dumped the bike had got out of the car, and the woman was walking back to get into it. We didn't hang around - there have been two shootings in Dublin in the last week that have been done by young men on bikes and that hammer could just as easily have been a gun.

By the time we got to the dance studio, I was feeling more than a bit wobbly!! I don't know about anywhere else, but there is a vicious underclass in Dublin now who have no respect for anyone or anything, including human life.

Oh good grief Osc
Do you mean they were after the people in the car behind in particular?? Even if they were, you could so easily have been caught up in their fight, whatever it was

(((((Osc))))) do take care xxx

Yes it seemed to us that they were after the people in the car behind us, or maybe one person. They were obviously lying in wait perhaps in bushes by the footpath, as I didn't see them cycling along the road before they appeared. The one who dropped his bike in front of our car never even looked at us or our car, all the time he was looking at the car behind us. I know we could have been caught up in it, that's why Mr. Osc told me straight away to move, to get just a little distance between us and the incident.

I'd have gone straight over the bike, in fact I'd have gone straight through the red light. Blimey Osc hope you are both ok now?

We were several cars back from the lights Shell. We are fine now thanks but I was a bit twitchy driving past the same spot on our way home later on!
