It's holiday time

I'm on the ferry to Caen right now. Using their satellite wifi.

I'm going to be working in the house till Monday then we'll have guests from Monday on. On Thursday we go to Chateauneuf du Pape and we're booked for the Veraison repas which is a meal which starts about 10pm and goes on well into the morning. Many courses, entertainment and extremely expensive Chateauneuf wines Au Discretion.

I might be on from time to time but I'll probably be offline most of the time. Mrs S doesn't like me on the computer when we don't have visitors. Let alone when we do. The husband of this particular couple was the manager of the team who put Huygens on the surface of Titan. He's a great guy who likes DIY like me and is a Scottish Country Dancer. He's also WAY more intelligent than me and I'll be asking him to help me work out some pressure/force/density calculations for an idea of mine.

I'm back to work on Tuesday 6th.

Have fun.

Suff,
Have your calculations anything to do with Boyles and Charles Laws. Remember something about this when I did Physics at school.
Would love to see some photos of you drinking the wine.

Thanks all,

Actually cruiser, no heat involved. So no thermic anything. just good old mechanics..

So I got 2 hours sleep on a 2 seater settee. I'd managed to shear the left footpeg off the bike, Friday evening, forgetting that I hadn't put the side stand down when I filled it at Sainsbury's and then trying to step off the bike. Nearly broke my leg.. DOH.

When I got off the ferry the traffic was not good but got worse. The bike boiled waiting at tolls on the A28 (this is new it was working perfectly) and the traffic was so bad that it took me 7.5 hours to get home (on a bike with no support for my left leg to change gear....

When I was on the way home I got frantic phone calls. We'd had a massive storm on Friday night and the power was out. Turned out that it had destroyed one of the transformers in town. By the time I got home I had to have 2 hours sleep then head for the brico, one to pick up stuff which was ordered and two to buy a generator. They had sold 12 generators and only had one left which was viable so €600 later I had a generator. I got home and had to set up the generator (they don’t even come with oil), rewire part of the house to allow me to plug it into the generator, then shift the inside fridge into the outside fridge.

Power came back on mid day Sunday. Yesterday I was helping in the house and out shopping for pool hoses (pool now usable).

Life is, almost, back to normal….

I have to sort the bike tomorrow, before heading off to Chateauneuf, as we travel back Sunday and Monday and I get on the bike and head straight for the port on Monday…..

Have a good time all and I will certainly enjoy the wine….
