What do you do on Boxing Day?

Ours is always the same and we love it.

Up earlyish in the morning and then wander down into the village to watch the annual raft race. It is the 50th year this year although there are threats that it could be the last due to lack of organisers.

We meet up with friends and watch it from behind the local pub - best spot to see everything. The village is absolutely crammed with tourists who come to see it.

Then after a couple of port and lemons we will wander back up to our friends house (we will have already called there on the way down to drop off supplies). There will be the four of us, the four of them and Carbon Monoxide Trish. We will then spend the rest of the day with them - eating, drinking and being merry.

We have done this for about four years now and each year one or two people pop in to say hello and have a drink with us.

By the end of the night the girls are usually all watching tv whilst we are playing silly party games with anyone who has been brave enough to hang around for the duration.

We generally just 'chill' on Boxing Day, although this year Mick will be driving Becks to her Dad's and picking up Harry who wanted to spend Christmas Day with his dad this year - and Chris will be hitching a ride too to go home as he only lives a mile away from the kids' dad...........So I'll be cooking and tidying up I expect, while it's quiet 8-)

My sister and her family are coming to spend a day or two, but not until the Friday, so Boxing Day and the day after will be quiet family days............ :D :) :)

When I was little we sometimes went to Kempton Park on Boxing Day to watch the racing - my dad loved horse racing and we only lived a few miles away from Kempton :) :)

That sounds great Debih. I usually love Boxing Day too as we have our friend Kay (well she is Tim's aunty, but that is irrelevant). She comes about 3 has a taxi home at midnight and we have a lovely dinner with her wonderful sherry trifle for pudding, then just chill. Luke is usually happy with his new DVD's and puzzles.

This year sadly is going to be very different, as we will both be working on the day after Boxing Day, so Luke will have to go back to his home at 7 ish and we will have to be in bed reasonably early ready for work the next day. So Kay will pop in for coffee in the morning and that will be that.

I really can't say I am looking forward to this Christmas at all as New Year is the same, one day off and back at work on the Weds and Tues is my day off anyway so I feel very cheated

Boxing day is adult's day. We sit round chatting, watching what WE want to watch on TV. listening to OUR music and generally doing what we want to do. :D :D :D

I suppose it's the children's day a s well. They get to eat cake whenever, drink loads of pop, eat more cake, play with presents..... ;)

When I was working in hotels- many years ago  - it was my day off ( I'd do Christmas Day and then have Boxing Day off) so all the family would come round :D

That would be about 13 of us, so I'd cook something that could feed us all, like a chilli, with rice (and chips). The granchildren would open their pressies, as would we. Like another Christmas Day - lovely.

This year? Dunno. Normal day here.

We usually go to my Mom and Dad's for dinner, last year my sister and her boyfriend came too...not quite sure whether they'll be there this year though :| After lunch we sit around watching TV and eating various chocolates, Mom and I break open the Baileys (though last year that had to wait until my sister had left...). We usually get home around 6pm and relax...but no doubt this year we'll be getting out the bike lights and walking Billy on the Chase!

Pick me up on the way Shell.

Cool the BaIleys, Saun, and make ice cubes, they are a must in whiskey. :)
