Just call me Kirstie............

Kirstie Allsopp that is.

I have just signed up to learn how to sew (sewing machine sew that is).

I spotted a post on the For Sale, Swap or Wanted site on FB for our area. This woman is doing classes with a max of three in a group for all abilities. I am going along on Wednesday night with my machine (she does supply machines if need be but said if you have your own it is best to use that). It is £20 for two hours and she supplies all the materials - I have no idea if that is a good rate or a bad rate.

I'm quite looking forward to it. God help all my relatives though who will now be getting hand sewn things for CHRISTMAS.

How on earth are you going to find time for sewing, Kirstie?

I think £20 for a couple of hours is fine Debih, after all if you're not keen on her you needn't go again but hopefully will learn something anyway :)
£20 a week would be pushing it though I'd have thought :?

I thought I'd go for about a month to just learn all the basics and then stop going.

I've had that machine for years and really don't know how to use it. I do have a friend who was going to teach me but she is so busy and I don't like to keep asking her.

You got me thinking Di and I decided that £20 a week is quite steep.

So I have emailed her to say that I can't make it. I am going to look out for a one off beginners class.

I shall also mention it to my friend again when I see her - last time I saw her she said that she hadn't forgotten and that another friend had also asked her so she was going to show the two of us together.

Also, I'm sure I could find something on you tube if I looked hard enough.

You can ask here too. I can sew, (out of practise though) and I'm sure others here can too. Just don't ask me how to do boning in ball dresses though  I've seen it once, for my own dress, many many years ago
