You get home and put them in the fridge, then get changed for a night out.
Returning at 6am ish on the 22nd and feeling a bit peckish you go to the fridge. Shock, horror, the sausages are in there and not in the freezer where you thought they were! Panic! What to do? They are 5 hrs 59 mins and 59 seconds past their USE BY date, it says so on the wrapper!
In your ever so slightly befuzzled state you hit on the idea of cooking them - all of them. Problem solved. Then you realise that they are now 6 hrs 29 mins and 59 seconds past their USE BY date. You paid £1 for them, you cannot waste them. You need another idea. The best one you come up with is to eat them - every single one.
Later on the 22nd, having been on shift for a few hours, from 4 pm, a mature gentleman enquires after your well being. Having recanted your story the gentleman leaves, laughing ever so slightly and shaking his head as he does so.
To which you reply: "WHAT? IT SEEMED LIKE A GOOD IDEA AT THE TIME."
I really should not have laughed. I understand his logic, and he didn't look too well.
