The tent!

Was enormous!!!!

But there is no way it would sleep 8. It has two proper sleeping pods (one at either side) which you could squeeze three people in each but only if they didn't want blow up mattresses. The third sleeping pod is at the back and is pretty small - you could get one person in (not the two as stated) but they would have a face full of tent as it only attaches at each corner so is pretty saggy. It is perfect for storage though.

The living space is huge. You could easily get a cooker area on one side of the entrance (the entrance is a little like a porch which opens out to the main living area) and store things on the other side and still very easily get in and out okay.

The main living area is vast. You could get 8 people sat around a table easily.

It took the two of us about an hour to put up - which we didn't think was bad for a first time and I took it down myself. It took about 90 minutes for me to take it down and pack it away but that included emptying it first and letting the air beds down, etc.

It was really comfortable (for a tent) and Mick really liked it.

I did get some photos of it so will try and get them posted tomorrow (my phone is currently lost in the house somewhere!).

not that I need one that big, but please tell me where you got it from (if you don't mind that is)

I'm off camping the August bank holiday weekend and at the moment 'only' have a small 2 man tent. The camp site unfortunately doesn't allow gazebo's so I figured I may look into slightly larger tents that have an awning or something similar for more space, esp as I'm the only person going that is single and hasn't got kids - so I'm officially declaring my camping pitch an adult only zone for anyone that just needs to get away from it all :D :D :D

Oh, and have I mentioned I'm looking to invest in a camping fridge - apparently the pitches all have a single plug point. No need for a hair dryer so the fridge definitely is top of the list

How was micks reaction upon seeing the vastness of the tent?

Pleased it went up ok for you.

Mm, our tent has a vast roof awning, and we don't bother with a gazebo any more. (But then we can (and have done) fit a wooden picnic table under ours, so any extra shade on the plot would really be starting to take things too far. )

I got it from ebay Meri.

It was £104 in total and is in fantastic condition.

First I put in what type of tent I wanted (berth and make) - I looked at Vango, Outwell and Coleman as I know they are really good). The Outwell ones usually go for quite a lot of money though so I concentrated more on Coleman and Outwell. Then of course I looked for those within travelling distance to collect.

When I found ones I liked I checked the sellers feedback to make sure they were okay and then I used UK Campsites to read the reviews on the tents. They are really good reviews and are pretty honest.

Then when I narrowed it down to three I looked on you tube to see if I could find any videos - I found a video of a look around the tent I bought as well as one showing how to put it up and take it down to give me an idea of how easy/hard it might be.

I ended up buying the Vango Kura 800.

He was fine Weka. I think because it went up pretty quickly (it took us ages to work out where to start but once we had we flew through it) he was happy with it.

He is still moaning about how big it is when packed away and that as it takes up half the boot I will have to cut back on what I take with me but I can still sneek stuff in the car when he isn't looking.

After all, a pop up laundry basket hardly takes up any space..................

Thanks Debih; I had a look at Ebay and found a 3 berth one I quite like - it's also a Vango :). But I probably should dig out my existing tent first and see if it's still OK as I really actually cannot justify buying one for a one off camping trip.... I should look if they've got add on canopy's maybe?

hmmmmm
