sad times....

On Saturday I received a text from another parent letting me know that a girl in Amy's class had passed away - she had many health problems since being small, immune probs etc, so was mostly able to carry on like any normal 7 year old.
I sat Amy down on Saturday evening and told her, she accepted the news, was shocked and a bit quiet but ok in general.
The schools went back today (inservice yesterday), so last night I said to Amy they will talk about it today at school im sure went to mums after placement to get her and she came running to me with a letter from the school about the little girl and some tips about child bereavement etc and what the school are doing to help - Amy said lots of people cried and so did the teacher, and she did too - first she has cried about it - I told her it was ok to cry and its a normal part of grief.
So sad that poor little girl, her parents must be devastated, heartbroken, I feel sick when I think about it and I just hope Amy copes ok - one of the hardest things iv had to do as a mum I have had to break news of people dying to Amy before but never someone her age
