HMR&C - a quick rant!

So.

After a long battle in February to get the Inland Revenue to correctly adjust my interest earned figures for 2023/24 - something I could have told them last July, but no, we'll get the figures direct from the banks, so don't call us, we'll call you ... and inevitably they got it wrong (courtesy of Nationwide  ) - I agreed the amount of tax I owed them and they said they'd adjust it in my upcoming 2025/26 tax coding notice.

Fair enough. Everybody happy. 8-)

So I get the 2025/26 paperwork through the post today.

And the tax adjustment figure .... well, it's like "we don't like Ostriches, so let's grab a completely random figure out of thin air and put that in, and fall about laughing while the bird spends over an hour trying to work out how the heck we've come up with it!"

And I still don't know the answer. :| Well, beggar them.

It'll all come out in the wash next year .....

HMRC have earned themselves a terrible reputation since the pandemic. Even contacting them can be a lengthy and stressful experience, apparently.
