Good Evening/Morning Friday

Postby Weka » 14 Mar 2025, 07:21

Evening everyone
Tonight is a total blood moon lunar eclipse so the fam are all down at the beach looking out over the harbour eastwards towards Rangitoto Island waiting for the moo to rise and the show to begin. We’ve just had pizza, and after days and days of sunshine, the cloud is rolling in. Typical.
Still it’s a lovely end to summer. It will be cold in the evenings by next weekend.
Everything happens for a reason

Morning Ally, Weka and everyone

Clouds and yet more showers this morning, but dry this afternoon.

Up early, as the cat got me up - again - so I'll have a coffee and then make a start on the samosas.

Friends coming up from the Algarve, so we'll head off to lunch afterwards, picking up another huge water container on the way.

Just as we're hoping to get some warmth Weka, you have the winter to "look" forward to ;) ;)

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Good morning Ally and JanB and Good evening Weka,

It is still only 12C when I got up. There are some clouds but the sun is trying to come out.
Te gas engineer did not come yesterday to service the boiler. So a phone call is the first thing on the agendfa this morning.

Then I am going to Chorley.
Rachel from Accounts says the econoy will increase. A butchers in Chorley has closed and a sall in Wigam market which sold cooked meats and cakes have
closed because of the increased costs. THere must be many others like this. Food prices are going to go up or it will be Shrinkinflation.

Have a good day everybody.

Morning all or evening to Weka.
Sunny blue sky and 9c but will warm up.
Quite agree with cruiser small business are closing ,a local pub has announced that they are no longer selling food ,making 2 chefs and 4 waiting staff redundant.
Rachel from accounts is to blame as the landlord can't afford the increases that are coming

Morning all, it’s dull and cold here, outside temperature a chilly 5.5c. Edward has already gone to play golf and I’ll be off to mobility class in a while. Taking it easy this afternoon and going dancing this evening, have to wear something green for St Patrick’s weekend.

Ally, I must have missed that you have sold your house, have you bought another?

Morning all :D

Bright and sunny 8-)

I missed your house sale too Ally, where are you moving to?

Busy, busy today. We've decided to do the 6 monthly mattress turn and wash the protectors today. It would normally get done at the end of April, but we're away until then and definitely won't feel like doing it as soon as we get home. It's a bit of a performance as it weighs a ton and we take it right off so we can clean the slats on the base. Also have to get the protectors dried and aired before putting them back on. Will also be doing the usual weekly wash.

This afternoon I'm having a phone chat with my son. His lung cancer op is scheduled for 21st March at the John Radcliffe Oxford. It was originally going to happen sometime in Feb, not sure why there's been a delay, but of course it could just be down to the general state of the NHS. Obviously I'm worried, especially as we'll be away, but eldest daughter isn't too far from Oxford and the plan's always been for her to visit him in hospital.

Hope you all have a good day xx

Hello and good morning everyone

Ally, bet the boys will love the house. Enjoy the Friday evening shenanigans
Weka, as Jan says - if you're heading towards colder weather, then hopefully that means we can finally look forward to some warmer weather! Roll on sunshine and summer!
Jan, enjoy lunch and good luck to the friends on the drive home with the big thing on the back of the truck, esp if the roads are still wet
Cruiser, so many small business closing here as well... it seems so many try to open, but there just isn't enough foot traffic for them to survive the high rents and other costs associated with their produce. And they obviously need to make a profit / living so cannot sell things cheap and compete with supermarket prices.
Vic, that's sad about the pub :-(
Osc, enjoy the evening dancing
Jen, good luck with the mattress turning; you remind me that I need to do the same - it really is a mission! Good luck to your son - really not good that a serious op (well I think any cancer op is serious) is delayed by so long :-( fingers crossed it all goes ahead on the 21st and all goes well

Well another usual/usual for me.... the sun is finally managing to peek through the clouds so I may go out into the garden for an hour or so. Dinner out this evening - Karl and Nadine are taking me to a lovely gastro pub as a thank you for being at theirs for the gas engineer. Absolutely not necessary given I wasn't doing much anyway and whatever work I was doing on the laptop was easy to do there, but the place does have fab food ... so after the 2nd "you know you don't have to" I kept quiet

Have a lovely day everyone x

Afternoon all, it’s dull but there’s a line of washing out so I’m hoping that the rain stays away.

I’ve walked into town and back this morning, I needed a couple of birthday cards. I wasn’t back long before the Tesco order arrived, it was quite a bit early but it was one of my favourite drivers so we had a good old chat for a while

Had a good time at the match last night, it was nice that it was just me and Joe. Quite often this season his friend has asked for a lift and Ryan’s a lovely lad but I can’t help feeling that he’s taking advantage a bit. It’s not like it’s a short drive, it’s a 140 mile round trip and picking him up adds 40 mins onto the total journey as we have to go out of the way.

Just me and John for dinner tonight, Joe’s off out for a meal with Jade and some friends, so I’ll make chicken and leek soup.

There’s a group chat been set up by the UK reps of the dog rescue for some of us with dogs arriving soon. We had an update last night that they may be arriving a couple of days earlier than expected, just waiting for DEFRA to confirm when they can come into the country. We have a group chat on Monday evening to discuss settling the dogs in. I’ve got a list as long as my arm of things I need to buy before he arrives!

My thought are very much with Kaz, Mick and Becky xxx

Sending much love to you all x

Thank you Jo xxx

Afternoon everyone.

Another disturbed night with Fraggle, we're all so tired! However there is some good news, Fraggle had a cortisol stimulation test which has shown once and for all that he is just diabetic, no Cushings. Very good news, as it will allow us to drop the Vetoryl tablet for that, which can interfere with the insulin for his diabetes. We are annoyed about the misdiagnosis from the first vet he saw, as it has meant unnecessary meds for poor Fraggs, but of course it a huge relief as well. With a bit (lot) of luck this night enable us to get his glucose levels under control. If it does, we can have him for a while longer. If not we will book a home visit for him to drift gently away.
