my favourite is when stores offer something on an offer for a set price, ie 2 for £1.00; but if you buy just one, they're 45p....
I think people just see 'special deal' labels and don't look into the detail; and shops know this and rely on it

I do smile when I see, say, 250gm blocks of butter for £1.79 and 500gm blocks at £3.99 and the big blocks are flying off the shelves.
That's not down to trickery by the supermarkets.

Saundra, that reminds me of the pretty picture sleeves covering half the plastic ready meal trays - "look at this delicious 'food"' - Get them home and 1/3 is the curry, spagbol, C-con-C; the rest is cheap rice or pasta.
And FGS stay away from the 'essentials' versions. Cook at home. It takes no time at all, is cheaper, and has none of the chemical additives, flavourings or preservatives of the commercial glop.

I look at the price per kilo or litre. It is usually in small print at the bottom of the label.
I bought thtee ready meals from Tesco as they were on offer. Will not buy again. I like the packets of flavoured rice from Lidl.
Fresh meat from the butchers with fresh vegetables. I can peel a potato. Din't ned Megan to explain what to do.
Too many additves in pre-packed food.

Yes, I've started to do this as well. Sometimes though, the information's too small to read especially with my eyesight!
As for supmarket "scams", I can commend Waitrose to you. 50p off a £1.90 cauli with a MyWaitrose card. That's £1.40. Bargain?
Errr perhaps not. "Essentials" caulis are on the shelf at £1.20. There's no discernable difference in size between the two .....

Can't be bothered to check stuff like that if I fancy it I buy? It's all a marketing ploy

My favourite is packs of flour tortillas. If you pick them up in the international isle they are twice the price of the “looks and tastes identical yet contains double the amount of tortillas“ of the ones in the bread isle.
So the bread isle ones are double the pack size and half the price. Yeah I don’t get it either.
