Good morning Friday

Postby Ally » 07 Feb 2025, 07:17

Good morning.

Another gorgeous sunny day and forecast 20° although it does get warmer than that. It's lovely. :) 8-)

Meeting Ely at 9.15 for our convowalk. :D

Nail painting once I'm showered etc. Today's colour is Swirlpool. An oceanic blue.

Conor's coming over late afternoon and coming out with us tonight for Friday beers and tapas. :cute:

He's staying over for the weekend as Lucia and her parents are going to Nerja for a mini break.
Normally Conor would go too but there's a certain Scotland Ireland rugby game on Sunday that he wants to watch with Don so made his excuses.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Morning all :)

That nail colour sounds nice Ally 8-) So does 20° of sunshine  My friend Em is in Barbados, and last night sent me photos :!:   xx

SW meeting this morning, it probably won't be great news as I've nibbled all week, worrying about Fraggle! But we'll see.... Normal Friday stuff after that, round to D's then home. I have some ironing to do, not much but best get it out of the way ;)

Have a good day everyone :) xx

Good morning Aly, Kaz, ans anybody elsewho is up.

Only 11C when I got up but no frost on the car. There are grey clouds but no rain.

Going to Chorley this morning for foo.

I am getting forgetful in my old age. I spent several hours trying to find the ring binder in which I keep the information about
car and house insurance. I wanted to send a reply to Ria. I eventually found it.
Then I lost the can of furniture polish. I had put it on one of the shelves on the computer desk when I had polished the wooden window
sill.

Have a good day everybody

Morning everyone

Clouds and sun and 17C for us. Much warmer at night too.

Washing already done, before the promised rain this afternoon.

Not sure what we'll be doing today, probably not a lot

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Good morning all.
Just finished haranguing HMRC over my tax - banks and building societies are supposed to tell them directly what taxable interest you've earned, what could possibly go wrong? Well with the Nationwide just about everything!
Had to tell IR they'd undershot my tax by around £80 - 15 minute phone call that included 9 minutes of recorded messages.
Now off to stick my head in a bucket ...

Hello all and good morning - happy Friday

Ally, enjoy the day - sounds like a perfect mix of fun / relax / food / family and good times
Kaz, fingers crossed for SW, I'm sure you'll be fine ((hugs)). How is D doing, you had posted a few days back that you were worried (and apologies if I missed an update / getting my wires crossed)
Cruiser, I'm horrendously forgetful at time as well so I feel your pain ;) . Enjoy Chorley
Jan, enjoy the day doing not a lot
Ossie, I'm with you on those recorded messages; given technology these days I don't understand why they can't have a voice operated system where you say what you want to speak to xyz about and then the AI Bots that are seemingly taking over the world can automatically transfer you to the correct department / person

Well, another usual / usual for me. Online this morning, vet appointment at 11.30 and then home to clear out and clean up out the greenhouse - at least it's wind and rain protected in there. I've got some mince that needs using, so I'll make a batch of bolognaise sauce at some point as well (probably before the greenhouse, so it can go into the slow cooker for a few hours; it really comes out so much nice for having a few hours of slow simmering).

Have a lovely day all x

Morning all, mostly sunny here, outside temperature 3.5c and thankfully no frost last night. Edward has gone to play golf and I’ll be going to mobility class in a while. Before I go, I’ll be booking tickets for Kellie’s dance show next month, they usually sell like hot cakes, they go on sale at 10am so I’ll be sitting there ready to go. No dancing tonight, our hosts are judging in Blackpool this weekend. We’ll watch the Late Late Show as they are having the Eurosong songs on to choose who will represent us this year.

We had a great time last night, I’ll update the other thread.

Morning all :D

Cold and windy

Kaz hope your friend Em is having a great time, where is she staying in Barbados?

Usual Friday washing for me. Must admit looking out of the window I'm more than happy to stay inside in the warm.

Hope you all have a good day xx

Afternoon all, it’s bitterly cold, windy and grey.

I’ve just had to walk down to little Tesco as a few items were out of stock on this morning’s delivery and there was a bit of snow in the air.
Football tonight so we’ll need to wrap up warm.

Ossie, I SO feel your pain. I had to phone Nationwide and Barclays yesterday evening. I phoned Barclays first and the message said that seeing as the waiting time was over an hour the call would end and I should use mobile messaging. I tried that and it said there was a technical error. I then phoned Nationwide, this was at 5.54pm and they close at 6. I went through press this, press that, enter your account number, oh you’re not registered for telephone banking so we’ll send you a code, enter the code, you now need to choose a six figure pass code, enter that number, re-enter to confirm.
It then put me through to where I wanted to be.
“Our lines are now closed”
I rang this morning when they opened at 8am, press this press that, enter account number, enter random numbers from the passcode, get through to the correct department only to be told that I needed a different office of their department which didn’t open until 9am, so I had to go through the whole palaver again then.

Have a good day all :D

Good afternoon all.

What a day!

I had a terrible night's sleep so slept in till 10 AM! When I put the heating on nothing happened... the pressure had dropped so it needed a top-up. Once that had been done I got a message on the boiler to contact the installer for an annual service. Contacted them but the first available appointment is on Monday but I was given instructions on how to get things working temporarily. It was much slower to heat up than normal but at least I have heat. I think that I will just leave it on.

I then did a small shop. Boy is it cold at 3 °C but "feels like" minus 3 °C with the wind chill! At least I now have enough stuff to allow me to stay indoors till the boiler is looked at on Monday.

I feel that a super red-hot curry will be needed for tea - think volcanic vindaloo with extra chilli.
