Good morning Saturday

Postby Ally » 25 Jan 2025, 08:17

Good morning.

Sunny and forecast 21°. 8-)

I hope everyone affected by storm Eowyn is ok. My friends in the part of Scotland I go to were badly affected.
Garden walls, gates and fences all smashed. Power lines down along with the electricity off, windows blown in and shops, schools, etc were closed for the whole day. :(

I've got a wash on which I'll peg out when I get home from my walk.

It's Lucia's grandmother's funeral today.
It would normally have been within 24 hours but Lucia's sister was in Switzerland and flew home yesterday morning so they waited for her return.
It's in Granada this afternoon so we're heading off at 11am.

TV tonight and a Chinese takeaway.

Have a great day.

Good morning Ally and anybody else who is up.
It was 12C when I got up. There is some blue sky but grey clouds keepcoming. No rain yet but it is windy.

Ally, I have not been directly affected by the storm. A tree has been b;own over in the park near the centreof the town. The houses near here seem to be OK.

The buses were operating normaly yesterday and Imanaged to get to Chorley. Am going to the bank this morning as I want sme money. A lot of shops
still only ant cash.

Have a good day everybody.

Morning everyone

We've had some rain, but the rest of the day is supposed to be dry. 18C too, which is lovely for this time of year.

Molly let me have a lie-in until 7.00  (it's normally 5.00  ) so I went back to bed :D with a book and coffee.

I'll put some washing out once it's a little warmer and that's about my lot for today. Apart from being nurse, of course

Hope the funeral goes as well as it can Ally xx

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Good morning from the A14 heading east to Norwich.
Having a day there with John, Joe and Jade. We’re going to show Joe where John used to live, take some artificial flowers to the cemetery for John’s parents’ grave and then go for a walk around the city and have something to eat.

Have a good day all :D

Morning all, we got up very late this morning as we lay in bed for ages discussing the film we saw last night, Conclave, and looking up various questions we had. So although we have had breakfast, I have yet to have my shower. Today I’ll probably do the ironing and I have sheets in the washing machine. We had no storm damage, thank goodness, apart from one of our seagull repellant pieces of wood which blew down. At Michael’s football club a tree fell onto a power line, and at Edward’s golf club a tree fell over the main power line to the clubhouse. Today it is bright at the moment, although cold, and there is some rain due late afternoon.

Morning all :D

Bright and sunny 8-)

We were up and out at silly o'clock to do the M&S trolley dash. It works really well on Saturdays, no school and rush hour traffic. We're usually there and back in 35mins or so. Wasn't planning much else, but our neighbours Jan & Dave have not long been back from a 10 day holiday to Egypt and we've been invited for coffee this afternoon. Looking forward to hear all about it and have a good catch up.

Hope you all have a good day xx

Hello and good morning all

Ally, thinking of Lucia and her family today. As for Eowyn, he definitely caused some issues up north :-(
Osc; how badly was Irelands West Coast affected?
Cruiser, don't think we have any cash only shops here; post covid they all now have card facilities. Some have a minimum amount you have to spend, but that's the only restriction
Jan, how is Grumpy doing?
Jo, enjoy the family day out.
Jen, I'm the same when I have to do the Sainsbury's run, I get there for when they open at 7am, get everything I need within 20 mins and then back home; 10 mins drive either way so max 40 mins out the house. That's when I'm working ;-) - at the moment being a lady of leisure means I go whenever I fancy

I'm about to make myself a cuppa and some breakfast and then sit on the sofa watching the birds in the garden; I'm taking part in the 2025 bird count. It's not the best time, earlier mornings are better and thinking it was taking place today and tomorrow, I was going to do this tomorrow (Sunday) morning; but it actually is for yesterday and today  But hey ho - tomorrow is meant to be absolute horrid weather, so maybe just as well.

Not sure what else will happen today, hopefully a few hours at the allotment a bit later; but that's about it.

Have a lovely day all x

Good afternoon.
That sounds really bad about the storms yesterday Ally; it takes something to blow windows in.
We were lucky in W Yorks; very windy but really it wasn't even a gale.
Jan, that cat is a saint! Enjoy the allotment time Ria.
I don't know what we are doing today.
We will see what unexpected delights the day brings.
hopefully better than Crommers Jnr's luck; someone run into the back of his parked car the other day.
They have admitted responsibility (kind of hard to avoid it, really) but it's the inconvenience of it all.
Have a nice day everyone.

He's okay, thank you. A slightly swollen eye and is still on pain killers. His tolerance is obviously very different to mine

Afternoon all :)

Ally, I do hope that everything went as well as these things can (((x)))

I hope Grumpy is more comfortable soon Jan xx

Glad nobody has had serious storm damage! We definitely escaped the worst of it here, no damage. We've been out all day, first meeting Dave and Em for brunch at the Dobbies garden centre in Tewksbury - I also picked up a nice Yukka in a big pot to go in the conservatory :D Then to the Tesco here in Gloucester, although the traffic was awful getting there as there's a home game at Kingsholm today :cute: Round to D's after that, and not long got home.

Love to all xxx
